bRAIN DROPS Keep Falling On My Head # 2

Fear from the Media.

I just watched a TV commercial advertising a huge pharmaceutical company’s claim that it is vital to our health that we take a daily dose of THEIR aspirin.

This is not my truth.

I depend on honest and accurate information for my health and have learned not to rely on the media for this.

According to the Mayo Clinic, “You shouldn’t start daily aspirin therapy on your own. While taking an occasional aspirin or two is safe for most adults to use for headaches, body aches or fever, daily use of aspirin can have serious side effects, including internal bleeding.

*** Please note that these pharmaceutical companies spend huge amounts of money to acquire other large companies with the same agendas.

Do you trust any claims made by these pharmaceutical companies ?
I certainly don’t.

If you wish to learn more, please read on. Thank you for your interest. It is only when we share and work together that change is possible.

In 1997, I had to have Open Heart Surgery as I badly damaged my heart in my motorcycle accident. As I was riding to work I was hit head on by a bad driver and sustained numerous injuries, one of which was major trauma to my chest. All the broken bones in my rib cage cut through my heart as well as my lungs. FYI – this is the same injury that killed Lady Diana.

Serious heart problems have plagued me ever since and I have to see my Cardiologist on a regular basis at St. Michel’s Hospital.

I have to take good care of my heart and need to be aware of issues related to heart health.

Dr. Steven Nissen, a cardiologist and Chairman of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic states, “My advice is not to take daily aspirin unless your risk for a cardiovascular event is greater than 20 percent over the next 10 years,”

People who have these risk factors include those who are smokers, or have diabetes or uncontrolled high blood pressure.

Many studies have found that aspirin isn’t a harmless drug. And if you are healthy, or among what Dr. Nissen calls “the worried well,” you shouldn’t take it just in hopes of preventing heart issues.

Who are the “worried well”? These are well-intentioned people with no history of heart disease or stroke who hope to ward off any heart problems. They might ask, “Why not take aspirin anyway, even if the benefit is small? After all, we all know aspirin’s safe, right?”

“Baby aspirin is not a benign intervention,” Dr. Nissen says. “There has been evidence for many years that for patients who have never had a cardiovascular event, taking daily aspirin poses as many risks as benefits.”

A recent study found a higher risk for hemorrhage from stroke or in the upper gastrointestinal tract. Another study found evidence that healthy older adults taking daily aspirin were at increased risk for death from many factors, including cancer.

Should we believe these advertisements. The choice is yours.

Best to your health.  Happy Holidays !
