As a Brain Injury Survivor, I completely disagree with the statement that my brain makes me who I am.
I am NOT my Brain.
“To say that my brain creates me is like saying that paintings create their painters.”
My brain is a tool that I use to interact with my environment.
Sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury has forced me to learn how to use my brain and NOT have my Brain use ME.
I can silence my brain with activities that require concentration and mindfulness and then I am able to block out all the negative energy.
Activities that help me do this include playing my guitar, listening to music, meditation, exercise, etc.
These activities help me get into the space between my Brain and the Universe.
I think of this space as my mind, my spirit, my soul, my psyche, etc. This special space is NOT in my Brain.
My Brain didn’t come with an owner’s manual so after I sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury in a horrific motorcycle accident, I had to carefully observe the activities going on in my brain as well as my interaction with the world around me.
This helped me to RETHINK, REDO and REWIRE my Brain.
I realized that my mind was in control and not the other way around.
Now, I am able to teach my brain new programs that help me to reduce anxiety, depression and other mental challenges.
I am NOT my Brain.
One Step at a time and “Always Believe.”
