Doublet Cancer Therapy

“I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.
By: Stephen R. Covey

My Oncologist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PMH) recommended that I start Doublet cancer therapy as the next step in my metastatic prostate cancer treatment.
FYI # 1 – Doublet cancer therapy uses two drugs simultaneously.

Myself and my wife, Jen, decided that I will start the Doublet therapy in my cancer treatment.

Doublet cancer therapy is a significant upgrade to single-drug ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy) that I have been receiving for the past couple of months after I was diagnosed with an aggressive, stage 4, metastatic prostate cancer.

Doublet cancer therapy is designed to aggressively block the testosterone that fuels prostate cancer growth, prolonging overall survival compared to using only a single ADT drug.

PMH is an amazing hospital and it is the largest cancer centre in Canada.

FYI # 2 – When you begin a new medication at PMH be prepared to wait a very long time as PMH has the largest comprehensive clinical pharmacy program in Canada.

FYI # 3 – The three hours my wife and I had to wait for my new medication will definitely help us appreciate the much shorter wait times at Shoppers Drug Mart. 🙂  🙏

Going forwards:
To improve the quality of our lives, my wife and I will continue to work very hard and continue to maintain a strong partnership with each other.

We will also continue to be proactive when managing the side effects while clearly collaborating with my Oncologist and my health care team.

Anthony Aquan-Assee.

“Always Believe” 🙏
