Hi there.
I chose the picture of the Butterfly for the cover picture of my most recent song “The Teacher,” as the Butterfly symbolizes transformation, hope and new beginnings.
My brother Michael painted this picture.
The Butterfly also has very special meaning for me when I am volunteering in the Trauma and Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit (TN-ICU) at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
FYI: The TN-ICU uses a Butterfly symbol to communicate with the volunteers, nurses, doctors and other staff members when a patient is dying.
As a volunteer, when I see a Butterfly on the curtains beside a patient’s bed, this tells me that I should allow any number of visitors inside the TN-ICU to visit with this patient.
Usually, the TN-ICU only allows a maximum of two visitors at a patient’s bedside at any given time.
Note: When I was a patient in the TN-ICU I was a Butterfly patient and not expected to live. My Neurosurgeon told my mother that it would be best to have me removed from the life support system that was keeping me alive since there wasn’t any hope. 🙏
